TCU Senate 2010-2011
Now that the Senate has wrapped up for the year and new TCU President Tomas Garcia has been elected, I would like to take the opportunity to reflect on the work the Senate has done this year. Besides the items listed here, there are many other projects on campus to which members of the Senate contributed, like the Blackboard replacement project and the upcoming Course Evaluation changes. Here is a list of some of the major initiatives and projects we worked on:
Resolutions:
- Supporting changes to the University’s policy to Respect the Service of Tufts ROTC Students
- Supporting Establishing Africana Studies at Tufts
- Supporting the creation of an Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies minor
- Supporting changes to the marijuana policy
- Supporting providing a community service alternative to the Off-Campus Noise Ordinances Fine
- Supporting commitment to greater sustainability on campus
- Supporting the creation of an Athletics Business Manager position to manage Club Sports finances

Treasury
Surplus Grants Program allocated $200,000 for the following projects:
- Tufts Bikes - The creation of a bike-share program on campus
- Tufts Mountain Club (TMC) - A new minivan
- Crafts Center - The purchase and installation of a range of things including: new vents, new sinks, a concrete patio, a card swipe system, installation of internet etc.
- The Tufts Robotics Club - The purchase of a laser cutter for the bot lab
- Tufts University Football Club (TUFC) - The purchase of a 12-person van for all Tier II Clubs
- Leonard Carmichael Society (LCS) - The purchase of a new minivan
- Media Advocacy Board (MAB) Lab - An overhaul of curtis hall including: new furniture, new computers, new paint/carpeting, a card swipe system, a film dolly, remote broadcasting equipment
